Ways to use Seeds Kids Worship in Your Home
How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop? I’ve never had the patience to solve this age-old question. I imagine there are as many ways to use Seeds Family Worship in our homes. Here are a couple of practical ideas on how to use Seeds for scripture memory in your home.
We choose a verse a week. Sometimes the verse is specific to a character trait we are learning about, and other times it may go with a verse they are memorizing for church. Currently, we are working through the verses from the Sing God’s Word Kid’s Show 2.
We sing the song in the morning most days. It may be in the car on our way to practice, maybe it’s while we are at the breakfast table. I’m working on learning that this isn’t going to be some nice, Pinterest-worthy moment. Kids will spill, make messes, be loud, and fight over the silliest things. I try to remind myself that they still learn through the chaos that everyday life brings.
I also write the verse on a large chalkboard hanging in our living room. This serves as a constant reminder to me that I’m working on teaching the kids (and myself) that particular verse.
On Sunday night, we have a family worship night. This looks different most weeks, but frequently we start with a couple of worship songs. After that, we all sing the Seeds song of the week, hand motions and all. We all share something we’ve learned from our personal Bible study and then pray together. It’s a simple, sweet time that is often my favorite part of the week.
I made a playlist of all the Seeds songs we have learned and we occasionally review them. This isn’t a formal, sit-down type of thing. I’ll play the songs while preparing dinner and the kids are running around, or play them in the car on our way to cross country practice.
