One morning, my son came into the kitchen and climbed onto my lap while I was sipping my coffee and reading my Bible in the quiet of the early day. He stayed there for a while, and as I wrapped my arms around him, I thought, *How many more mornings will he still come sit on my lap like this?*

Parenting is a beautiful, bittersweet journey. In many ways, we're working ourselves out of a job. Of course, we hope to continue supporting them through every new season of life, no matter their age, but ultimately, we’re preparing them to stand on their own.
