A Valuable Lesson… Kids Who Sing God’s Word, Know God’s Word

Kids Who Sing God’s Word, Know God’s Word

Kids ministry is hard, chaotic and it sometimes feels like we are getting nowhere with the kids. But, I’m here to tell you about a valuable lesson I recently learned… Kids Who Sing God’s Word, Know God’s Word. And that makes it all worth it.

This is Where It Began:

I’ve led Kids ministry for over 20 years, and I’ve learned something very significant that is sometimes easy to forget. Chaotic can become the norm and you find yourself saying, “Have these children even learned one thing today?”  Stress mounts and we find ourselves on the verge of a mental/emotional meltdown… and this just describes a typical Sunday morning.

But here’s a reminder for you: Kids are learning even when we don’t think they are listening!

This is Where It's Going:

In my over 15 years of Kids Worship MInistry, I have discovered that Kids learn about God’s love and meet Jesus and ministry goes on… even in less than ideal situations. The days that seem to be the most lost are also the days I receive videos from moms showing their little angels singing the song we just learned or quoting the scripture that we just sang together.

Here’s the Good News:

The kids in our programs today are not the same kids we were years ago. These kids learn in very different ways. They learn by doing and not by listening only. They are absorbing everything around them even when they don’t look like they are paying attention. And most importantly God is still working in their hearts and allowing them to be loved by Him.

Take A Deep Breath:

Relax a little. It’s not a waste of time. Trust God in this. Take the time to sit back and watch the kids in your program. Watch how they worship God and are learning His Word. Continue to do what you can do best and trust God with the rest.
